1 I know what you are trying to say and the $199 is much closer to the truth. Its about the same cost as any soft synth and you cant get any more natural bass sounds from any soft synth. I f you play guitar, just get a $99 to a $199 bass guitar. Was doing sound and this guy had a washtub bass made out of a hockey sticks, used weed wacker strings. I also have a Cech stand up bass but it is not a good bass so never record with it. So for under $ 400 I'm in bass hog heaven. Into a boss Bass enhancer/ compressor pedal $ 80 In the market for a low cost bass rig? here's my stuff. Some excellent suggestions here for sampled bass, I'm going to start looking at these for the rare time I would use a canned bass. The attempt at real bass is not even 30% close so forget it. Synths like the TTs-1 or any general MIDI device have "synth" bass sounds. I use em all! If it's bluegrass your most certainly not going to use a synth bass but wait, that might just work! Some of us are better fretboard players, some of us are keyboard wizards, some of us suck at both so we cheat like hell! We have the tools to work with and personal taste to choose a good sound. Bass sounds and style of playing almost define the music, just like the drums and guitar. Bass -icly I think the sound of a bass is 100% song sensitive.
